1. What is the difference between 8079 and 1235 alloys?The 8079 alloy has a higher yield point and is somewhat stronger than the 1235 alloy. In addition, the 8079 alloy is less prone to the formation of pinholes than the 1235 alloy. However, the cost of the 1235 alloy is less than that of the 8079 alloy; thus, it is frequently used for the manufacture of general food packaging products.
2. Why are there only 8079 and 1235 alloys available in 7 micron thickness?These two alloys have a higher level of purity and elongation than the other aluminum alloys, which allows the manufacture of 7 micron thick foils without excessive pinholes or breakage from the rolling process.
