Container manufacturers need the physical properties and dimensional measurements of this material to be consistent to make their containers efficiently and produce a good quality container. Our container foil raw material is made of strong alloys (3003, 8006 & 8011) that have different mechanical properties based on the application for which they are intended. The tempering of those alloys in the manufacturing process is usually H22, H24, or H26. The mechanical, physical, and corrosion resistant properties of the alloys make them ideal for many applications in container foil manufacturing.

The precise control of overall thickness from the edge of the coil to the center of the coil guarantees that you will have the same wall thickness at the formed containers, which prevents you from having weak areas on the formed containers, thereby maintaining their structural strength.

1. Which alloy would be suitable for Container Manufacturing? 
Answer: The best alloy for a typical food container with good formability and cost is 8011. 3003 has superior mechanical properties and will yield better than any of the other options if deep-draw and high strength properties are required. If excellent formability and complex shapes will be formed, 8006 is typically most appropriate. Our technical group will be happy to assist with recommendations based on the container design and production equipment.

2. What is the best temper for container forming? 
Answer: The most widely used tempers for container foils are H22, H24 and H26. The H24 temper offers the optimum combination of strength and formability for most applications. The H22 temper provides greater formability for creating more complex shapes. The H26 temper has the maximum rigidity and strength for stacking the containers. We can assist in recommending the appropriate temper for your container design. 

3. Do you make pre-lubricated container foil? 
Answer: Yes, we can provide an option of pre-lubricated food grade foil. This will extend tool life, reduce press wear, improve forming consistency and reduce scrap. The lubricant is FDA approved and contains no hazardous ingredients for food contact applications.

4. How can I tell if a container foil raw material is of the right quality? 
Answer: A container foil raw material should have a consistent thickness (±4% max deviation), uniform mechanical properties (yield strength, tensile strength, and elongation), clean appearance with no visual defects, and both flatness and width should be consistent. These attributes are certified by our quality control department with each shipment.

5. What type of technical support do you have available for container manufacturers?
